Crops we grow
Sunflower farming in five regions of Ukraine is the base of our oil production: we grow classic and high oleic sunflower, store the seed in our own silos and crush it at our own plant.
Ukraine is one of the world's largest sunflower producers, and sunflower farming covers a big part of its arable land, especially in the central and southern steppe. Sunflower is a spring crop: it is sown in April and May, when the soil reaches 8 to 10 °C, flowers in July and is harvested from late August to October as the heads turn brown and the seed dries.
The crop copes with heat and dry spells better than corn, thanks to a deep taproot that pulls water from lower soil layers. Its weak points are diseases such as sclerotinia and downy mildew, broomrape (a parasitic weed), and birds at ripening. For that reason, agronomists usually keep several years between sunflower crops on the same field.
Modern hybrids hold around 45 to 50 percent oil in the seed. Next to classic linoleic hybrids, high oleic hybrids are grown for oil with a higher share of oleic acid, which is more stable in frying.
Each sunflower seed farm in our group lies in one of five regions: Dnipropetrovsk, Kirovohrad, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr or Rivne. We grow both classic sunflower and high oleic sunflower. Tillage is chosen field by field, from classical ploughing to no-till, depending on soil, moisture, weather and the crop grown before.
The farming of sunflower on drier steppe fields benefits from no-till, which keeps residue on the surface and saves moisture for the summer. On other fields, classical tillage gives better control of weeds and crop residue. Sunflower is rotated with wheat, barley, corn and soybean, so it does not return to the same field too often.
Sunflower is combined once the heads are brown and the seed has dried down, then trucked to the nearest silo.
Our certified silos receive the seed and clean out head pieces, stalks, weed seeds and dust.
Oilseeds heat up quickly at high moisture, so the seed is dried to a safe level before storage.
The silos were built for the procurement and storage of oilseeds, sunflower first among them.
Seed is loaded in bulk for road or rail, or sent to our oil extraction plant.
Part of the harvest goes to our own oil extraction plant, where the seed is cleaned, dehulled, flaked and pressed, and part of the oil is refined. The plant has a capacity of 67,000 tons of sunflower oil and 44,000 tons of meal.
From our sunflower we produce cold pressed sunflower oil, refined sunflower oil and granulated high-protein sunflower meal for feed mills. Because the same company grows, stores and crushes the seed, quality can be followed from the field to the finished product. Our grain farming and storing grain page describes our other crops.

Buyers who need oil with a high oleic acid share can source high oleic seed.
Bulk lots are offered on FCA, CPT, DAP or DDP terms for onward sale.
Food and industrial processors source seed to their own specification.
We sell wholesale sunflower seeds in bulk, loaded on trucks or railcars, with big bags possible for road shipments. Quality is set in the contract specification: oil content, moisture, foreign matter, oil acid value and, for high oleic seed, the oleic acid share. The seed meets the requirements of the State Standard of Ukraine, and extra certification can be arranged depending on the market and end use.
The sunflower seeds wholesale price depends on the lot, the season and the Incoterm, so we quote each request separately. We deliver on Incoterms 2020 terms FCA, CPT, DAP and DDP, from silos near the fields with good road and rail access.
Tell us whether you need classic or high oleic seed, the volume, the delivery point and the Incoterm, and we will send an offer for the current crop.
